The Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) will be hosting a lifeguard training
course beginning April 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 in the Weirton Room at the community center.
The course instructor will be Jason Williamson, a Weirton
resident and veteran lifeguard of the Board of Parks and Recreation.
During the course swimming test, prospective lifeguards must swim 500
yards (equivalent to 10 full laps in WMCC pool), untimed. Prospective guards must be strong swimmers. Swimming will not be
taught as participants must know their swimming strokes.
The class will be completed in 20 hours. A course agenda will be handed out
on the first day of class.
The cost of the class is $200.00. The fee includes all instructor and swimming
pool fees, training materials, and a CPR mask. Students who successfully complete training and are hired by the Weirton Board
of Parks will also receive a lifeguard suit and first aid pack at no additional charge.
Class size is limited to 10 students, so preference will be given to the first
10 paid students.
To register for the class, visit the WeirtonMillsopCommunity Center, 3420
Main Street, Weirton, WV. Payments with cash, check,
money order, or credit card will be accepted. No registrations will be accepted by phone, mail, or e-mail.
