PICKLEBALL is new for 2015 … bringing
to the Ohio Valley a once popular neighborhood sport that has turned into a national recreation sensation.
If you like
to play tennis, badminton or ping pong, then you should give Pickleball a try. It combines all three racquet games into
a sport that is fun, moderately fast and very strategic.
The game consists of two, three, or four players using solid
paddles made of wood or composite materials. Players hit a perforated polymer
ball, similar to a wiffle ball,
over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the
dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar
Play is slated to begin weekday mornings
and afternoons (Monday and Wednesdays) in March through May.
The sport will first be introduced for recreation play and may develop into an organized leasure league once participants
get the jist of how to play.
If interested, we ask that you
call and express your intent to play so organizers know much much equipment is needed to play.
Wooden racquets and balls will
be available for participants to use during play. Participants may also purchase their own.
REGISTRATION: Daily leasure
play ... $3.00 a person in addition to a daily admission, Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit or Arcellor-Mittal Steel or MCC
membership. NO LEASURE FEE for MCC SPONSORS or MCC PREMIER MEMBERS.
