Here at Millsop Community Center, we offer patrons a number of fitness classes -- both exercise and aquatic -- geared
to get you tone and fit.
From low-impact trademark Silver Sneakers Range-of-Motion classes on comfortable chairs to high-impact body movement
dances from Zumba Fitness and a complete workout with our new CAMP FIT... our weekly lineup has
something for everyone with an objective to exercise.
Just take a look at what we offer...
AEROBICS: a system of physical conditioning involving
exercises (as running, walking, swimming, or calisthenics) strenuously performed so as to cause marked temporary increase
in respiration and heart rate.
STEP AEROBICS: Using an artificial step to raise and lower your body, you get a great cardio workout and strengthen your legs
at the same time.
Beginning Step:
Teaches you the basic step movement, making it easier for any beginner
to advance to the next level.
Advanced Step:
Moderate to high intensity step routine. Consists of squats, lunges, jumping jacks and jogs
on the step.
STRENGTH AND TONING: muscle conditioning exercise with emphasis
on strength and endurance using hand weights. Sculpting your muscles to a more defined look. Class focus may vary: upper body,
lower body or total body.
AEROBICS WITH TONING: aerobic, muscle conditioning exercise with
emphasis on strength and endurance … Sculpting your muscles to a more defined look. Class focus varies on upper body,
lower body or total body.
PILATES: Build core strength and enhance your
overall fitness level and flexibility. It’s about strength with control -- being long, limber and strong ... More of
a cardiovascular workout than yoga.
CORE TRAINING: A combination of high intensity, low impact
step aerobics in one class. Also combines toning for arm and leg muscles, with upper body stretches.
BODY SCULPTING: Non aerobic, muscle conditioning exercise with emphasis on strength
and endurance. Sculpting your muscles to a more defined look. Class focus may vary: upper body, lower body or total body.
YOGA: It’s about relaxation, muscle control and proper breathing
techniques. Incorporates stretching and flexibility. Enhances your overall fitness level.
WATER AEROBICS: A low impact cardiovascular routine using water resistance. Certain
routines may be incorporated for toning legs and abdominal muscles.
AQUA ARTHRITIS: an aquatic exercise program designed
to decrease pain, and increase strength, endurance, and flexibility … specifically designed for people who suffer from
the debilitating affects of arthritis.
Taught by experienced aerobic instructors, who will guide you through a series of water
exercises in our pool, these exercises help increase range of motion in your joints and strengthen those muscles weakened
by arthritis.
SILVER SNEAKERS®: Move to the music
through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.
Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered
for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
ZUMBA: A fusion of Latin and International music – dance themes creating
a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of
fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
